We want to say a special "THANK YOU" to Faith, Hope & Charity for purchasing the building for our new location at 5273 Hwy. 52E, which will open this Wednesday, January 8, 2014.  It is big and beautiful and we are so thankful for the generosity of many people and the hard work of our volunteers who have made this dream come true.

Many thanks to Feeding America & Walmart for the new food recovery program which is a real blessing & has provided many pounds of extra food to help us feed residents of our county every week.  We need help picking up, sorting and distributing this food.  Please click "Volunteer Here" to see how you can help!

The Gilmer Community Food Pantry is a 100% volunteer organization dedicated to helping feed the hungry in Gilmer County.  The Food Pantry began in 2001,  when the need was recognized by a few good people who were willing to give of their time and energy to help others.  Now we have over 100  volunteers.  Many dedicated volunteers work every week to pick up food from several locations, bag USDA food, margarine, eggs and other food and coordinate the next week's distribution day.

Thanks to the generosity of churches, businesses and individuals, when we close the books on 2012, we will have served over 6,300 families, consisting of over 13,000 adults and over 12,000 children.  The amount of food we have been able to give has also grown to an impressive level, from 244,460 pounds in 2008 to 584,137 pounds in 2012.

We have also taken on the task of the SACK PACK program.  A group of our dedicated volunteers pack food for 250+ children each week and deliver the food to the schools to be distributed to them on Fridays, so the kids won’t go hungry over the weekend.

You se
e,  we desperately need the continued generosity, help and support of all individuals, businesses and churches who can donate food or money to our cause.  With the state of the economy and the lack of jobs, the need for the Pantry to continue to feed the hungry in our county is going to continue.  If you would like to donate to the Gilmer Community Food Pantry, please use the "Donate" button to the left or
contact us!
