The Gilmer Community Food Pantry is
a 100% volunteer organization dedicated to helping feed the hungry in
Gilmer County. The Food Pantry began in 2001, when the need was
recognized by a few good people who were willing to give of their
time and energy to help others. Now we have over 100 volunteers. Many
dedicated volunteers work every week to pick up food from several
locations, bag USDA food, margarine, eggs and other food and
coordinate the next week's distribution day.
Thanks to the generosity of churches, businesses and individuals, when
we close the books on 2012, we will have served over 6,300 families,
consisting of over 13,000 adults and over 12,000 children. The
amount of food we have been able to give has also grown to an
impressive level, from 244,460 pounds in 2008 to 584,137 pounds in
We have also taken on the task of the SACK PACK

You see, we desperately need the
continued generosity, help and support of all individuals,
businesses and churches who can donate food or money to our cause.
With the state of the economy and the lack of jobs, the
need for the Pantry to continue to feed the hungry in our county is
going to continue. If
